Yesterday morning we were still waiting for some news about Sasha Joy's passport (at left she is pictured outside the passport office in Chernivtsi). The strike continued... nothing looked good. But then, an unexplainable event took place...
The passport office in Chernivtsi -- the one that said it would be impossible to complete a passport for Sasha, the one that our facilitator lobbied and that the orphanage director and counselor personally visited and implored on our behalf... The one that our dear friend Olga talked with whose family member used to be the head of the department in charge of passports for this region -- the one that after all this still said at about noon yesterday that it would not be possible to make any progress because of the passport strike and no new "blue passport forms" are being printed or made available because of it (and I heard the phrase "3 months wait")... Olga called me and said we should wait in Chernivtsi where it is cheaper...
After all this, at about 12:30 pm, we received a call that the local passport office suddenly "found" one of the old "red passport forms" that is no longer made but that will still work. Less than an hour later we were in the car and on our way to Kiev!
Our facilitator still has no idea why the sudden change. She did tell us that it is costing quite a bit more than normal to expedite it (so that it will take only until next week, not 3 months to complete). They just call it an extra fee... :-)
Of course, we believe there is an explanation... The prayers of many and God's help. Sasha Joy is THRILLED and so are we.
Bottom line: we think we will now be able to keep our plane flight on January 22!
Thank you for praying!

ReplyDeleteAll glory and honor and power and dominion be to our great G-D on high, who makes a way where there is no way. To Him be the glory forever. I ask Him for an overflow of resources to pay for the extra expenses you have incurred in this trip. May you be provided for in abundance. May it rain manna from heaven for all you need to pay for this trip and for life back at home. May there be no worry in your heart or mind, knowing that He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and surely, He rejoices in providing for His children. Blessings to you as you bond and grow in your new relationships with one another. May Joy find peace and rest in your arms, may her mind be soothed and may her wounds be healed through the blood of Jesus. May there be no doubts and may fears be cast away in the grasping of more and more faith to complete the tasks ahead of you. May you look back on this trip, and this encounter for the rest of your lives as a gift of monumental change for the better. May it always be a source of joy, both in receiving Joy and in the battles that were won on your behalf along the way by He who is more than a conquerer for you. Blessings and love to you all.
